Aquas​

I created the Aquas series before immigrating to the United States. Inspired by the vast blue of the Caribbean Sea, these pieces became companions and guides as I prepared to leave behind the life I knew and cross toward a new beginning.

​

My work begins with emotion, from the tenderness of a baby’s face to the endless movement of the sea. Such experiences awaken my imagination and inspire me to give physical form to what I feel.

​

When I sculpt, anger, frustration, and fear dissolve. Joy takes their place, flowing into each piece and illuminating it from within. Aquas carried that joy, and the hope I needed, through uncertainty, change, and the promise of a new adventure.

The series reflects a deeply personal crossing: between countries, between chapters of life, and between the familiar shore of home and the unknown horizon ahead.
