My sculptures explore the inner life of the human spirit,our emotions, identities, connections, and relationship with the natural world.Working primarily in clay and bronze, I create figures and forms that emerge from personal experience while speaking to something universal.
My journey from Venezuela to the United States, across the Caribbean Sea, has deeply influenced my work. Migration, transformation, resilience, and the search for belonging flow through many of my pieces.
Nature is both inspiration and guide. Water represents movement and new beginnings; seeds carry the promise of renewal; and the human figure becomes a vessel for memory, vulnerability, strength, and hope.
Each series tells a distinct story, yet together they reflect my belief that art can cross boundaries, between cultures, countries, identities, and generations, and remind us of the humanity we share.
Aquas
I created Aquas before immigrating to the United States. Inspired by the Caribbean Sea, these pieces became my companions and guides as I crossed from the familiar shore of home toward an uncertain new beginning.
Global Man
I created Global Man to explore a universal human presence, one that belongs to no single gender, race, culture, or place. Through these peaceful, androgynous figures, I invite viewers to recognize themselves and the humanity we share.
Golden Seeds
Through Golden Seeds, I explore resilience, renewal, and our responsibility to protect the natural world. Each seed carries the promise of new life and reminds me that even the smallest form can contain a powerful future.
Him and Her
In Him and Her, I explore the emotional space between two beings, their strength, vulnerability, longing, and connection. The figures search for one another, revealing the invisible energy that draws people together.
Clay
When I moved to North Carolina, I rediscovered clay and fell in love with its expressive possibilities. The connection felt immediate and deeply personal. Clay has since become my primary material, the medium through which I shape my ideas, emotions, and sculptures.
Bronze
At twenty-one, I began working in a foundry alongside the other workers, learning the demanding process of casting bronze from the inside. Those were some of the happiest days of my life. Covered in dust and bronze shavings, surrounded by heat, metal, and the sounds of the foundry, I felt completely at home. That experience created a lasting connection between bronze, craftsmanship, and joy.
The Spirits
In Spirits, I explore the invisible presence that exists beyond the physical form. These figures emerge from intuition, memory, and imagination, carrying a quiet energy that connects the human world with the mysterious and unknown. Through them, I seek to give shape to what can be felt but not always seen.
